Reflections on 2014 and plans for the New Year

Well what a great year it has been for me. I started making my jewellery early on in 2014 and have never attended a craft event where I havnt sold at least one piece. Not much you may think but I am the only Macrame jewellery maker locally and it takes time to establish any new style plus I am competing with more traditional jewellery and cheaper pieces sold for a couple of pounds. Whilst my designs are not expensive, they do reflect the time it takes to produce as well as the materials cost. Unfortunately, although I would love to Buy British and although I buy from British suppliers, I cannot always find the original source. My rattail cord is from the USA and is a natural fibre which is of far superior quality to the nylon alternatives, which I feel is worth the compromise. I find the best quality supplies of beads, charms and findings I can whilst looking for the best prices. My newest designs are proving popular and I am planning many more of these using different colour schemes and bead combinations. I love the feel of natural mineral beads and have just ordered some turquoise, tigers eye and lemon jade amoung others. Along with the silver plated and haematite beads I have always used, these will be a great addition and I am excited at the design possibilities.
I look forward to sharing these with you in 2015.
Anne xx
