"Modern pearl earrings sit somewhere between pearl studs and pearl drop earrings."Pearl earrings are one of the few jewellery designs that have remained popular for generations. What has changed is not the pearl itself, but the styling around it.
Many people still love the simplicity of pearl studs, yet want a little more movement without wearing large statement earrings. Others like the elegance of pearl drop earrings but find some traditional designs too formal for everyday life.
These pearl pull through earrings were created somewhere between the two.
From the front, the earring looks like a simple Akoya pearl stud. Below the earlobe, a fine 18ct gold chain continues into a polished gold bar, creating a longer silhouette that moves naturally as you wear it.
The pull through construction is also different from a traditional stud. Instead of using a butterfly back, the slim gold bar passes through the piercing, allowing the chain to follow until the pearl sits neatly at the front of the ear.
It is a small design detail, but it changes the character of the earring. The result feels lighter than many classic pearl drop earrings while keeping the clean appearance that makes pearl studs so versatile.
Designing jewellery often comes down to solving small everyday questions rather than creating something completely new. In this case, the question was simple: how can pearl earrings keep their timeless simplicity while feeling more relaxed for modern everyday wear?
Every pair is handcrafted in our London workshop from solid 18ct gold and Akoya pearls.
