What is custom order jewellery

Custom order jewellery is made for one person to a clear brief. You choose the design direction, metal and gemstones. A jeweller builds it for you, then the finished piece is hallmarked by an Assay Office in the UK to confirm metal fineness and origin.

"Design your own in 18k gold with natural diamonds, hallmarked in London."Custom, bespoke, made to order: what is what?

Bespoke or custom means created from scratch for one client. Proportions, setting and stone are defined for you.

Made to order means an existing studio design produced in your size or metal with small options, for example stone size.

Why people choose custom.

Meaning. You can add a birthstone, a date, engraving or a motif that matters.

Fit and comfort. Band width, profile and setting height are tuned to your hand and daily life.

Materials you trust. Eighteen carat gold, natural diamonds and coloured gemstones you select.

Longevity. Solid metals and thoughtful engineering for everyday wear.

Provenance. UK hallmarking provides an independent guarantee.

Is bespoke jewellery more expensive?

Often yes. You pay for design time and hand making as well as stones and metal. Most budgets are driven by the centre stone and labour. Minimal low profile designs can put more of the spend into the stone rather than decorative metalwork.

What to prepare before you enquire:
A few inspiration images, budget range, timeline, ring size or piercing position, preferred metal and any must have details. Decide your priority: biggest bright look for the budget, a specific hue, the lowest profile for comfort, or a particular cut such as marquise or oval.

How it works with Lena Cohen Jewellery.

We are an independent family run atelier in London. We work only in 18k solid gold with natural diamonds and gemstones. Pieces are bench made in small batches, hallmarked in London, and we do not outsource to factories. You speak directly with the jewellers who will make your piece.

1) Enquiry

Send the online form with your outline. We reply personally and set the next step.

2) Consultation

Email, chat, phone or video. Share images and ideas. We help refine proportions and practicality for everyday wear.

3) Quote

You receive a clear quote for the piece.

4) Design

After an initial payment of £500 or 20 percent of the quote, whichever is greater, we begin design. You receive stone videos, 3D sketches and a short video of the finished piece before dispatch. The deposit includes one design remake and is deducted from the final price if you proceed.

5) Finish and dispatch

Once the balance is settled, we complete final checks, hallmark if needed, and ship insured. Courier and insurance details are shared with your parcel.

We welcome commissions from £2,500 total, including multi item sets.
