My resin art beginning I sort of fell into, I started making a few things got addicted, and everyone said how lovely the stuff I made was, I had lots of orders and thats how I got started.
I started out making resin items because I saw it on a craft program while watching TV one evening. I turned to my husband and said, I fancy having a go at that, and he replied, Go for it, so I did.
In the beginning, I made just small items like keyrings and bottle stoppers, and then quickly progressed to cake stands, soap dispensers, bookmarks, and wine butlers.
I turned to YouTube for troubleshooting every time I got stuck or something went wrong. There was always someone it had happened to, and they had posted a solution about it. Work Colleagues were buying my products, and friends and family as well. I was soon making so many things. My dining room was turned upside down with resin items everywhere I looked. My husband soon regretted encouraging me to go for it, and a solution was needed quickly, so it was decided to convert the garage into a workshop, giving me the much-needed space required.
One day a lady at work asked if I could preserve some funeral flowers in resin for her cousin, who had lost his mother. I had never done anything like it, and it was such a big responsibility that it made me a bit nervous. I said I would do it and watched lots of tutorials and read up on how to dry out flowers and place them in resin layers. A few weeks later, my first memorial flower heart was created, and they were so pleased with it that I wanted to do more.
A local florist had seen this heart and recommended my work to others he also let me place some leaflets in his shop, and from this, I started doing more and more flower preservations. I love being able to help people save their precious flowers, whether it be from their special occasion, wedding, or memorial. It means that they can enjoy their special flowers for years to come.
I have only been in business for a short while but eventually, I hope to give up office work altogether and work at creating resin items in my little workshop in the garage. As someone once said, Do what you love, and you will never work another day in your life.
