Positive Thoughts From Lockdown

Positive Thoughts From Lockdown

Hi all, this is my first Blog on here. My name is Rona from RonasBeadsAboard. I have been making gemstone beaded jewellery for many years now. 5 years ago my partner and I bought a canal boat and spent 4 years travelling around the southern canals and rivers, hence the Aboard bit of my business name. I got a Roving Canal Trader licence and we had a lot of fun trading at organised floating markets, as well as on our own.
Last year, events came together to sell the boat and return to the house which had been rented out.
At the beginning of this year I spent many hours applying for lots of craft fairs, some more successfully than others. Im sure you all know what that feels like! Then LOCKDOWN stopped all!
Now the point of my Blog. What was I thinking?! I realised in lockdown, with all the time to spare for thought, that I had been over reaching myself. I help my partner run a (usually) very busy business moving canal boats around the waterways for boat owners and boat brokers. There was no way I could have attended craft fairs every month and make more stock as it sold! I also have to keep a couple of galleries well stocked.
So all that time for thought and introspection, has led me to realising that, at the age of 64, perhaps I need to be kinder to myself. My mind is always full of new design ideas but theres no rush is there?
Youre all creative people here, do you find you put too much pressure on yourself?

We feel that your words - be kinder to myself - are inspirational. We often hear that we should be kind to others but we sometimes forget to look after ourselves. After all, when we are in a better place, it can mean that we are then more capable of helping others.
