I am a crafter now organising Craft Fairs

Hi... My first blog! Not sure what it supposed to look like, or what it is supposed to be about, but here goes...

I am a crafter. I taught myself to crochet 5 years ago, when I realised that arthritis was preventing me from knitting, but it was quite easy for me to hold a crochet hook.

In 2017 I started attending craft fairs, some were good, some not so good! I was having to travel for the fairs, as there werent any that were that local to me. Also because I had to have easy access due to a disability, that also limited me as to where I could go. Organisers of other fairs had not given consideration to people with any disabilities and I know quite a few crafters that this applies to.

Then a friend said to me, why dont you organise your own fairs locally? I laughed to start with and then thought more about it when I got home and thought... Why Not!?... What was stopping me?... Nothing!...
I had nothing to lose by trying.

The friend who suggested it was also the booking secretary of a local village hall, so I started by asking him about hiring it. Everything was agreed and Hey presto... My first craft fair is to take place on 25th February 2018 at Hurworth on Tees village hall and then the last Sunday of every month thereafter.

The hall is now fully booked with some wonderful talented crafters and I am excited to say the least, at how it has attracted lots of local crafters to it. I am though, a tad nervous obviously about getting the footfall for these fabulous stallholders. I have tried hard not to duplicate crafts, so there is no direct competition between the stallholders and also so the customers have lots of different things to see and purchase, I have put out leaflets, advertised in the local magazine and the local radio. So anyone reading this, pop onto your Facebook page and tell all your friends about the fair.

Craft fair means just that! There wont be any MLM companies, or franchises. They are hand made, hand crafted and home made only products/produce.

It is disabled friendly, as there is a ramp to go over the 3 steps into the hall. There are toilets on site and we have refreshments on site too.

As of today 18 February. February. March and April are all fully booked and May is well on the way. If next week is a success I can see that May will be full by the end of the day!

All I can say is WOW! A new year and a new venture for me. Thanks to Bill...Not how I expected 2018 to start. But at this moment I am so pleased he prompted me with his comment.

EXCITED! :) Lol.
