9th October 2016 Celtic Cross

Good evening. I have had another lovely week, I work 3 days a week at my day job and then have 4 days to fit in everything else, but I still get a lot of time to work on my art.
The knots I started last week have been added to and I am really enjoying these. Each knot is a complete design in itself but I want to find ways to use these designs to produce fibre art pictures.
I suppose these days I class myself as a fibre artist because the pieces I make are produced using wool and in some cases cotton cord.
Although most of my work has been done round a wood hoop, I am also looking at more pieces worked onto canvas and checking out other ways of displaying my creations.
My latest piece is still a work in progress but part of the focal point is the wonderful Celtic cross I have been learning this week. I was lucky to have step by step instructions and once I mastered them, found it was nowhere near as difficult as it looks.
I am intending the finished knots to be mounted onto canvas to produce my piece but would be interested to hear of your suggestions for alternative backings.
Originally I planned to attach my cord directly to the canvas and produce the designs as I go along but having tried this it is easier to make each knot individually and then attach to the canvas with the cord ends and build up the picture piece by piece.
I may be a little late posting next week as I am once again away for the weekend but will update you when I can.
Anne xx
