Good evening everyone.
Autumn may be just around the corner but as with many crafters, Christmas is also on the way and needs to be planned early. So before the trees turn, I am already starting a new piece with Christmas in mind.
The canvasses I purchased have arrived, unfortunately one of them was damaged but I was very speedily given a partial refund and I think I can recover the bars with aida which I wanted to try anyway.
I have started the Christmas piece on one of them and although I am not yet sure how I will finish it, I am happy with the progress.
I am using wool for this and although I tried the bakers twine again, I actually found it really difficult to work with. I love the colours and how defined the knots are with bakers twine but the wool feels so much nicer to knot. Not as defined, quite felted looking to some extent when knotted but I really prefer it. Because of this, I have decided to splash out on another couple of hanks, which I want to dye. Still hard to justify the cost but hopefully worth it.
I am in the process of trying out new ways of knotting leaves, so I can add these to my trees, they would look a lot better in other colours than neutrals so again dying may be the way to go.
I have also joined another few new groups on Facebook. I feel my work fits in quite well to fiber and textile groups so hope to get feedback from the members on the direction it is taking.
I am really looking forward to the next few months.
Dont forget to let me know what exciting things you have planned.
