Hi everyone.
The weather has been lovely again this weekend and although warm on Thursday has been cooler the last few days. The sunshine is very welcome however and brightens the spirits.
I really enjoy posting these blogs and updating you with APD ventures. Iwish I could add them more often, unfortunately as my work takes some time to produce I struggle to find enough variety to write about.
I will be adding the tree of life piece, now titled Onset of Spring to the shop this evening. This will be one of the pieces being shown at the July exhibition, though obviously if this is sold before then, I am happy to release the piece and hopefully will have time to make something similar.
I have decided that the part of the exhibition given over to my work will be on the theme of trees as I love making them. Although they use very few macramé knots, mainly revolving around the half hitch with larks head, square and overhand knots in places, I find them very absorbing and enjoy planning the pieces as much as making them.
When finished they dont look typically like macramé pieces and they have been mistaken for woven work.
I have joined 2 facebook groups primarily for textiles but allowing any handcrafted items which fit within this, macramé being accepted. So far the piece I have put into both groups has been well received, better in fact than within the macramé groups.
I often feel like giving up as my work is slow to sell but I enjoy what I do and of all the arts and crafts I have done over the years, I have a real passion for this.
Finally, the photo attached is of my next piece of work. Can you guess what it will be?
