Silver Houttuynia leaf pendant

This leaf pendant is made using a direct impression of a Houttuynia cordata leaf on silver clay. Each leaf is only used once, so each piece of jewellery is a one off and totally unique. The leaf is then cut out, finished, dried and fired to become 99.9 percent pure silver. It hangs on a 16 sterling silver snake chain.
Houttuynia has a yummy citrusy coriander leaf taste. Medicinally it has many uses including reducing blood sugar levels, and is anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, anticancer, hepato-protective, antiallergic and much more. Moreover, it is a beautiful plant that grows well in English gardens. The variegated form is often seen as a garden plant, but I prefer the plain green leaved form for flavour.
