Bergamot:
Bergamot provides anti-depressant benefits and is mildly sedative. It is an ideal oil to add to your bath time routine and blends particularly well with Sandalwood for a mindful bath.

Lavender:
Lavender is native to the mountain areas of the Mediterranean. The fresh, floral scent improves mental focus, calms restlessness and reduces stress.
This oil is a great mind calmer and I would recommend using it anytime. Due to its relaxing, sedative properties It is ideal as a sleep enhancer and would be perfect for an evening mindful practice.
Create an evening routine using a candle, or an oil burner. Turn down the lights, remove all distractions and rest. If done on a routine basis, even if only for a few minutes, the Lavender will trigger your mind to prepare for stillness.
Peppermint:
Peppermint is a cross between water mint and spearmint. Inhaling Peppermint is often used to relieve tension headaches, reduce stress and clear congestion.
A morning mindful practice will be highly enhanced with the addition of peppermint oil. Light an oil burner when you wake in the morning and add a few drops to kick start your day.
I like to add a few drops to a hankie and inhale the fresh invigorating smell. My mind clears instantly and prepares me to focus.
You could mix a few drops with a base oil and rub on the soles of your feet, or the back of your neck, for the added benefit of the sensation on your skin.
Once the Peppermint has got to work your mind will feel clear and open to a few mindful minutes before you start your day. Now is the perfect time to look out of the window, or step outside and feel the day.
Moonstone:
This stone calms and balances. It teaches us the natural rhythms of life and soothes the emotional body. Among its many properties is the ability to uplift as well as heal.
The grey form is known as New Moon Stone and I have chosen it because the new moon is a time to focus on new beginnings and this stone encourages the renewal of energy. It is the bringer of peace and tranquility, reflecting the essence of the moon itself.
It is related to the crown chakra which is associated with higher awareness, bliss and presence, so it is perfect to still the mind and tap into a higher consciousness.
In India this stone is regarded as a dream stone bringing its wearer beautiful visions during the night. What better reason could there be for using this stone in your evening mindful practice?
Yellow Jasper:
A perfect crystal for a morning mindful practice as it carries the energy of the sun and gives out positive energy. This stone is associated with the solar plexus chakra which is related to personal power.
The solar plexus chakra is the energy centre that provides the momentum to move through the day. Holding this stone will energise your practice and your day.
Its properties include absorbing negative energy and balancing the physical, mental and emotional bodies. It is a stone of nurturing and brings a sense of tranquility. It is perfect if you need a boost of positive morning energy.
