Decorative raku wheel thrown mug not food safe

This is a decorative ceramic raku wheel thrown mug (not food safe).

This is a decorative ceramic raku wheel thrown mug.

This is done in a process where the pot is removed from the kiln still glowing red hot and placed in a container filled with combustable materials. This is then sealed after they ignite. As the oxygen in the container is burned up and reduced the oxides from the glaze are drawn out to burn, depositing the metals on the surface of the glaze. The black/grey is where the unglazed body has absorbed and coloured the pot.

Each vase is unique in its finish as well as its form. Compared to stoneware pottery and glazes raku ware is more ephemeral but kept dry out of direct sunlight should last some time.
raku potterys function is decorative, dont drink from this mug! Its not food safe, bit of a chocolate teapot, I know!

Approximate size: 9.5cmx 10cm approx, including handle.

Glazes: Spectrum Raku Sunspot 864 glaze and Bath Potters Supplies Wellow Yellow Raku glaze.
