Winter Moon

Handcrafted wall hanging on a 7 inch beech hoop, made with mill spun pure wool.

This beautiful piece has been inspired by clear winter evenings and is knotted with wool from one of the oldest established British breeds, the Ryeland. The wool is supplied to me from a local flock as well as other UK based flocks.
The crescent moon is made from a single piece of mill spun wool in natural cream colour, woven around a 7 inch beech hoop.
The tree is knotted with two colours of undyed mill spun wool and enhanced with a variety of different size and colour wood beads. Each cord extends below the hoop and is split to represent the tree roots.
Above the hoop, the hanger is formed in the same knot style as the main design, uses two of the three colours and finished with square knots, a square knot bump and finally a tassel
The piece is approx 7 inch wide x 16 inch long excluding the hanger. The total length including the hanger is 18 inch.
The price listed here is for this particular piece but I am happy to custom make a similar design in a variety of natural colours. Some of this wool can also be dyed if desired.
