Tree of Life wallhanging made with millspun wool from the Ryeland breed of sheep

This beautiful wallhanging is knotted with millspun wool from one of the oldest established British breeds of sheep, the Ryeland. The wool used here is from a supplier just a few miles from my hometown and much of it from my suppliers own flock but also includes wool from other Ryeland flocks found within the British Isles.
It is a fantastic medium to work with and knots easily producing pieces which look almost felted. Used here are two earthy colours of wool, interspersed with a variety of different size and colour wooden beads, knotted around a 7 beech hoop.Each cord extends below the hoop and is split to represent the tree roots.
Above the hoop, the hanger is formed in the same knot style as the main design and uses the same two colours.
The piece is approx 7 wide x 15 long excluding the hanger. The total length including the hanger is 19 and is finished with a short tassel.
The price listed here is for this particular piece but I am happy to custom make a similar design in a variety of natural colours. Some of this wool can also be dyed if desired.
