Hand Painted Oyster Ornament
Last winter I was feeling uninspired by life. I wanted to bring joy and physical creation back into my life. After a delicious round of oysters at a local pub, I asked if I could take some of their waste oyster shells home. They agreed and after a thorough wash, I began painting them into festive ornaments. The shape and design of each one was absolutely unique. It was inspiring to connect with these exquisite natural artefacts. I gifted them to friends and family and received instant orders for the following Christmas.
Since then, I have collected hundreds of waste oyster shells from local pubs. I paint these waste products into bespoke gifts. I am also collaborating with my ceramicist mother to create unique candlesticks. Our aim is to share the joys of nature through craft.
