Re enactment style knives

Bush craft style knives with antler or hard wood handles in leather sheaths

These unique knives are made utilising the skills of a Blacksmith, Leather crafter, Woodworker etc. utilising old or worn out materials destined to the skip. These include broken Sawyers bandsaw blades, worn out circular saw blades or farriers rasps. The handles are from locally sourced hard wood that is treated to form the scales (handles) or from sections of antlers.
The old blades are heated in the forge and formed into the desired shape and then quenched to reharden the blank blade then a process of heat treatment in an oven to temper the blade ready for sharpening and ready for fitting of the handle material. The handle material is then either glued or rivetted to the tang of the blade. The blade is blunt at this stage and then it can be sharpened to form the profile of the cutting edge.
A customised veg tan leather sheath is made to suit the knife with a belt loop or leather cord to secure the sheathed knife.
