Gorilla in Pastel

Original framed artwork in pastel pencil on velour paper

The gorilla photo came from a recent trip to Chester Zoo, and with the image being almost monochrome, I thought I would try black velour paper, as i thought I would probably get aways with just a few marks on the paper as a minimilst representation, I think it would have worked too, had i not got a little carried away, and turned it into a full painting, When I paint, i am seeking to paint a photographic representation, and i find it hard to paint differently, but I think I will try the minimal image again sometime.

The picture is mounted and framed, frame size is 20 inch x 16 inch.
