Oil painting on stretched canvas with sides painted, so no need to frame. 32x24 inches. It bis a depiction of the happenings at the Mara river which lies across the migration path of ungulates in the Masai Mara/Serengeti ecosystem. During the great migration these animals are desperate to re ch the other side of the river and, driven by those behind them, they take a desperate leap into the river, where crocodiles are waiting to catch them. Some of them make it across, but others are caught and eaten. Here we can see the jump one gnu takes while there are hundreds waiting behind. The river was done in greens and blues with brown from the sand mixing in and crocodiles are hidden in the scene,. Many other gnu are already in the river, trying to reach the safe side. I used a special technique of mixing different medium mixers to react wth each other that I have learned and perfected to depict the turbulent waters.
