Wet felted purple and lime tea cosy

Funky tea cosy incorporating handmade lime green felt balls and purple silk fabric

This is a wet felted tea cosy hand made using Corriedale wool in my workshop in sunny Suffolk.
It is made in one piece to create a seamless design.

This design uses handmade felt balls and recycled silk which have been incorporated into the tea cosy during the felting process so they are very firmly fixed in, which is a new technique for me and i think it brings a different dimension to the piece.

As each piece is hand made, every one is unique and the design on each side is different (the photos show both sides).
Wool is a natural insulator so this will keep your tea nice and hot.

It measures 32 cm at the base and 21cm tall and will easily accommodate a standard 3/4 person teapot. It fits over the complete teapot including handle and spout.

The tea cosy can be gently hand washed and then laid flat to dry (don’t be tempted to machine wash as the spin cycle will felt the wool even tighter and it will only be fit for a toy tea pot).
It can even be ironed like a woollen jumper!
