A hard-wearing leather dog lead made from oak bark tanned leather
This no-stitch leather dog lead is made using special leather knots. It is secured with a bleed knot at the human, hand loop end and a Kimberley Knot at the dog end. The bleed knot is secured with a brass Chicago screw.
The lead is roughly 2cm wide and 1.25m long including the solid brass trigger hook. The hand loop is a nice and roomy 20cm long and has a handy brass ring for attaching poo bags, tying your dog to something or making into a loop to go across your chest when your dog is off the lead. The lead is made with harness leather that is 5mm thick so this is very strong and tough and will stand up to years of use and abuse.
It is quite a chunky lead but will quickly become more flexible with use. The last photo above shows a lead I made a year ago, the Kimberley Knot softens down and the whole lead become nice and supple and darkens in colour.
The leather is English Harness leather from Britainís only remaining oak bark tannery. Oak bark tanning is an ancient process that uses local hides and natural products to produce leather in a sustainable way resulting in one of the strongest and best quality leathers in the world.
All the metal work is solid brass and made in the UK.
Your lead will be wrapped in recycled and recyclable tissue paper and sent in a plastic free and recyclable cardboard envelope to ensure it arrives in tip top condition.
