Wooden Cat with Copper Eyes

This tactile and talismanic triangle cat is made from part of an old wardrobe. The wood is teak and his eyes are solid copper. He is sanded and polished to a beautiful sheen that feels wonderful in your hands. Triangle cat would make the perfect gift for a cat lover or anyone who would like a friendly feline presence in their life. He makes a lovely ornament but is really designed to be held and worried in the hands to soothe or help with clarity of thought. He has a beautiful pattern of grain and almost sparkles in the sunlight.

I used a Japanese pull-saw to cut the initial shape and then a lot of different grades of sandpaper to make him silky smooth. Finally, he is finished with a quick buff using food-grade beeswax. His eyes are made from the offcuts of the rivets I use in my leatherwork – I don’t like to waste anything!
