This rare vintage British made 1940s Barber heat lamp has been given a new lease of life upcycled as a stylish desk lamp.
This style of heat lamp were widely used for medicinal purposes during the first half of the 20th century to treat all manner of conditions.
The old heat lamp was in a pretty sad state when we first acquired it, and has since been stripped, the interior of the aluminium shade has been polished, and the exterior recoated in a high gloss burgundy and ivory. The lamp has been rewired with a vintage ivory braided cable with inline switch, and the original heat bulb ha been replaced with an oversized vintage Edison style globe bulb with a gorgeous spiral filament giving off a lovely warm glow.
The vintage Edison style LED bulbs are cooler than the traditional incandescent bulbs as they use up to 90 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, and have up to 30,000 hours lifespan.
All fittings are genuine British parts, all hand-wired to a high, professional standard and are PAT tested.
This is an original vintage item so there may be some natural wear and tear which adds to the character of the lamp.
