Well over a century old this very rare antique 1912 L.C. Smith and Bros. No.5 Typewriter has been beautifully upcycled into a one of a kind, unique and stylish vintage lamp with three antique style lights. This lamp would look great as a statement piece in a livingroom, bedroom, office, bar, restaurant, or any other area.
Made in 1912 by L.C. Smith and Bros. Typewriter Co., New York U.S.A. this ancient typewriter was in a bit of a sad state when we acquired it, caked in decades of dirt, grime, and rust. But with a lot of elbow grease and perseverance we were able to remove the dirt and bring it back to some of its former glory.
The typewriter has been fitted with three antique style metal E27 lamp fittings with vintage Edison style LED bulbs with spiral filaments producing a lovely warm glow, one of which replaces the original typewriter roller.
These Edison style LED bulbs dont get hot as they use up to 90 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, and have up to 30,000 hours lifespan.
The lamp is also fitted with a vintage style brown braided flex cable with an inline switch, a metal antique style cord grip, and a 3amp British plug. All fittings are genuine British parts, all hand-wired to a high, professional standard and has been PAT tested.
This is an original antique item and will have some natural wear and tear which adds to the character of the lamp.
Please note that this upcycled typewriter lamp is very heavy!
