Kilncarved plate

A large bowl in an aqua tint. Approximate size 19.5cm x 19.5cm x 4cm.

This plate was made using a technique known as kiln carving. A piece of Aqua Blue Tint glass 3mm thick was fused together with a cap of 6mm thick clear glass. This piece of fused glass was placed over a design cut from a ceramic fibre paper 2 and 3 mm thick and refired to a high temperature in the kiln. The glass flows around the fibre paper leaving the design in the glass after it has cooled. The glass is finally slumped into a mould to give the final shape.
Suitable for dining or a serving platter.


We do not use single use plastic in the production of this item.
