Fenella Ross - Printmaking

Fenella Ross

I am a Teacher of Art and Photography, and producing Lino and Collagraph Prints exploring Chine Colle, making original coloured and monotone prints of coastal and landscape scenes, dipping into images of still life and unusual insect forms, printed over lino base prints.
My photography stems form my deep seated love of the Sea and Coastal scenes, the wilder the weather the better, I am originally from the Highlands of Scotland and my passion for my work often finds a starting point in my homeland.
I teach life drawing and work in this subject area in both print and paint, also painting collaged styled images form series of photographs, experimenting from editing and layering/blending multiple shots of the UK coastline.
In terms of my own work I studied at Glasgow School of art and the discipline of observation and analytical drawing taught has embedded itself in my printmaking, which as an etcher I worked in detail and texture, developing this same eye for detail and form in my current prints, mainly in lino and Collagraph, printing on papers, cotton bags, gift bags, cards and cushion covers, which encourage me to move away from land and seascape and into pattern and bold prints.
When time allows I am a working photographer providing services such as wedding and new born /baby shots and selling Landscape/ Seascape shots with Fine Art Photography of natural forms.
