“Producing home made quality woodturning from recycled or timber off cuts.”
I am a hobby woodturner and feel that it is important to use timber that would otherwise go to the log burner , or worse to landfill , to produce a unique piece of turning. Some of my vases and platters contain defects such as bark inclusions, fissures and other features which have been intentionaly included to enhance the finished item. I also produce segmented works which are constructed from a few pieces of assorted timber to in some of my larger vases over 1000 pieces. My wife is an artist and raids my store for plainer items on which she paints her wildlife studies. I do use colouring to enhance some of my work along with texturing and hand carving. I sell my products at craft fairs and local country fairs. I have taken one of my small lathes and generator to outdoor events and made simple pieces as a demonstration.
