Landscape can be many things, a colour, a scene, but always provides a breath of air on a busy day. Our landscape portfolio is focused around the concept of photography with feeling and mainly features images captured close to our base in the East Midlands. Being close to the beautiful Peak District national park and historic industrial sites such as the Lumsdale Valley, these feature regularly in the portfolio. Owning that one special piece allows the chance for much needed Me Time when you step out of the busy day and relax a while...

Alternatively the Contemporary images are generally thought of as being about rather than of a subject. This essentially makes them social comment pieces provoking thought, hopefully discussion and inevitably, as in all art forms, often a viewers perception will differ from that of the photographer.

For many photographers, working in Black and White (or Monochrome) offers a chance to develop the drama and atmosphere of an image. Strong lines, clear perspectives and sharp crisp contrasts can be enhanced by using an apparently simple tonal range. Often seen as having a retro, classic look black and white photography is regarded by connoisseurs as a field of its own and the images offered by shapeandshade photography echo that feeling.
