Rustique Chairs rescues old, sad, ailing chairs and restores them into fun, colourful, confident chairs with character and pzaz.

RustiqueChairs is a small business that finds antique country rush and cane seated chairs that need restoring. These sad, sometimes injured, chairs are then restored, some are rebuilt, and reseated with dyed sisal. Some resized to become childrens chairs. Some chairs become benches, some become high chairs, some footstools, others guitar stands, chaises elongée, fin des lits, martelox. All start a new life unique, refreshed, characterful, joyous and madly coloured. This process is called rustiqueification.
I also reseat and restore chairs for other people. Some ask for particular colours or designs, some just let me loose. I have been asked for sets of chairs all with mismatched seats, the same colours but different designs. Pairs of chairs, a mixed pair of high chairs, a bespoke work stool designed to fit into a particular place under a worktop.
I have been asked to make small childrens chairs, personalised with a name or initial, for christening presents. Unique wedding presents with an initial on the seat and another carved into the back.
