SOUTHERN VOICE TEXTILE CRAFT MAKER OF THE YEAR 2014
My business began as a dream 45 years ago when my mother first taught me to knit. I then began to crochet in my teens, developed a love of dressmaking and decorative needlecraft at school and finally found a patient soul (only 5 years ago!) to teach me to spin. Needlecraft has been a constant and life-long friend. I thoroughly enjoy building on and combining existing skills, finding new designs, creating my own, and especially working with colour. I have created bespoke pieces for clients over the years, including picture sweaters of favourite pets, traditional Aran sweaters, crocheted garments and gifts and also dresses and costumes made on my trusty sewing machine! Fluff n Stuff first took shape in the 80s when big shoulder pads and mohair were all the rage .. I have been following the trends ever since, and hopefully creating a few of my own. I share a lovely unit on a farm in Reigate, Surrey with my partner who is a photographer. We both gain inspiration from the space and the rural setting and I am sure our work reflects this. My aim with the business is to encourage us all to choose something unique, long-lasting, well made (and of course beautiful!) and to provide a showcase for what is possible. What better way to promote the crafts and skills of British craftspeople than to buy and use their products, whilst creating your own individual style at the same time? I have enjoyed attending craft fairs and events in the past both as a customer and an exhibitor, and look forward to stepping up this area of the business, meeting new contacts and getting out there!

Zoe Johnson
