Gifts, Christmas decorations sold in aid of St Christophers Hospice, Breast Cancer and the Dogs Trustt
I fund raise for St Christophers Hospice in Sydenham, Breast Cancer and the Dogs Trust. I sell general gifts, door wreaths, Christmas decorations and cards.
I have been fundraising for various charities since 1997 by attending various community events. All monies raised go to essential patient care, buying essential equipment and research.
My current charities are:
St Christopher’s Hospice:
• St. Christopher’s Hospice is a registered charity in Sydenham London SE26
• It was the founded by Dame Cicely Saunders in 1967 and it was the first Hospice for to provide end of life care
• They provide both Palliative and end of life care to patients’, both in-patient and out-patient, in 5 boroughs (Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham Bromley, Croydon) in South London
• It costs £25.3 million each year to maintain their services (9.5 million comes from Central Government)
• The Hospice needs to fundraise £16 million every year to function
• Lack of funds reflects on essential care
Breast Cancer:
• This cancer is the most common in the UK
• One woman is diagnosed every 10 minutes
• Men can get breast cancer too
• Breast Cancer UK supplies support, education and preventative advice
• At least 30 percent of breast cancer cases could be prevented
• So the message is vitally important to keep both women and men well, safe and breast cancer free or detected very early to improve outcomes
Dog Trust:
• Lady Gertrude Stock started the National Canine Defence League in 1891 to campaign against cruelty to dogs
• This then grew and became the Dogs Trust
• Their mission is to bring about a day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life and free from threat of unnecessary destruction
• The Dogs Trust is funded by volunteers and donations
• They rescue dogs and lobby Parliament for specific protective actions
