I hand make crochet stuffed toys which are gifted to others.
I handmake crocheted stuffed toys for all ages, usually sea creatures ranging from octopi to crabs to seahorses, but I also make aliens, capybaras and other animals.
I started my crocheting journey in 2015 following double carpal tunnel surgery instead of doing traditional physio, it was suggested that I pick up a hand-heavy hobby. I tried knitting and I was terrible, constantly dropping stitches, mixing my knit and purl around so I tried crochet and I immediately fell in love.
I didnt do things the easy way I dived straight into amigurumi and I learned the granny square around 2 years later.
Amigurumi just spoke to me. What is better than making cute animal stuffed toys? For around a year, I made tiny octopi and jellyfish for a charity in the UK called Octopus for a Preemie - crafters made octopi and jellyfish which were then inspected and sent on to hospitals in your local area that needed them, they were then given to a premature baby who found comfort in the creature as the tentacles reminded them of the womb.
I made a lot of toys for friends and family, kept one or two for myself but most went to good causes.
Then I found out that to sell amigurumi, there was a rigorous testing process to follow - 4 months later and A Dash of Crochet was born.
