Hi, Im Denise. I usually work in an office and I have a passion for plants, animals and all things nature. In my spare time I make candles and am constantly seaching for ways to reduce, reuse or upcycle plastic waste into something beautiful and useful.
I started The Hibernating Hedgehog after I started making candles just for myself and had loads of requests from friends, family and colleagues for them. I perfected my recipe after months of trial and error and am now expanding rapidly. I am on Etsy etsy/uk/shop/AHibernatingHedgehog and now want to move into selling direct to my customers at craft market stalls.
I made a pledge when I started to only use materials manufactured in the UK, recycled where possible and recyclable/ compostable after use, completely plastic free and vegan. I also pledged that for every candle bought, £1 will be donated to the chosen UK wildlife charity of the month to help hedgehogs once again thrive in the wild. The charity is announced on my social media pages at the start of every month, so keep an eye out!
