The Jolly Upcycler

I upcycle ceramics: I buy second-hand ceramics from charity shops and put my designs onto them using ceramic decals.

I am a marine ecologist and I am deeply concerned about our impact on the environment. More importantly, I want to help reduce waste sent to the landfill.
Thats why I created The Jolly Upcycler in 2022 to offer upcycled ceramics: I buy plain second-hand ceramics from charity shops and from our home/studio in the Heaton Moor area of Stockport, I create special designs to put onto them.
I usually paint my original design with watercolour paint. Then I scan them and order them as ceramic decals. I stick the decals onto the ceramics and bake the pieces in a kiln so the designs become permanent.
As a marine ecologist, my main inspiration is the ocean but I am creating new designs to incorporate other beautiful environments.
