Sculpted narrative jewellery using mixed metals
Sculpted Narrative Jewellery designed and created by Nadine based on the natural world. My work defies the current trend of minimalism within jewellery design. Although I use silver, bronze and copper, traditional metals for jewellery, the pieces are bold, amusing, sometimes allegorical but always evocative. People who like my work speak of it as Art on a chain. Many feel it speaks of antiquity. My experience and training has come from a fine art perspective including painting, printmaking and stone sculpting. I am more interested in the emotional and spiritual impact of each piece. Does the running hare silver pin take you back to that magical moment when you first glimpsed one leaping across a field in winter? Does a little wren necklace on a nest of eggs make you long for Spring? Do the gulls, stones and crashing waves on a pendant take you back to those bucket and spade holidays you loved as a child? The texture of my rings evokes walks in the woods when you examined the deep fissures of the bark on those magnificent oak trees. The work is heartfelt and meaningful and never meant as an embellishment for fashion.
