Hand felted gifts and cards for any occasion.
I design and make a variety of hand Felted gifts, cards and home décor all finished to a high standard as standalone items or with the addition of hand beading and/or hand embroidery. I like my items to stand out from other felters and go the extra mile for my customers, trying to understand the things that are important to them. I am eco conscious and although I am not 100 percent plastic free or carbon neutral yet, I am constantly finding new ways to move closer to that goal. Wherever possible I work with rare breed wool from British sheep. I have always begun offering vegan options with some of my work and will happily work with you if this is your preference. I try to source a lot of my wool direct from British farmers too and I am always open to new contacts if you know of anyone who sells direct to the crafters. I do still use bulk suppliers but order very minimal fibre brought in from outside the UK these days. I repurpose items where possible and scout charity shops and car boot sales for craft supplies or anything I think I can use. I forage on beaches and in woodland for anything I can use in my crafting including shells, seaglass, seaweed, wood for slicing, hanging or turning into something fun, acorn husks, pine cones etc. Broken jewellery or bits of China people throw out are all saved for a rainy day! I am still using vintage threads, buttons and yarns gifted to me by people over the years because I’m determined to make use of things others stopped wanting.
I am in the process of rebranding and soon Wool and Wonder will become “Twisted Toadstool”, where I plan to combine my 2 passions: mental health and arts/crafts. In addition to the workshops and parties, I will be aiming to use the knowledge gained from my day job as a mental health professional, to run a peer support group where people can meet regularly, learn some new crafts and explore their creative side whilst gaining support from others who may be experiencing similar issues: isolation, depression, anxiety etc. I will provide resources and be able to signpost those who want it to other organisations who may be able to give more targeted help. I aim for these sessions to be low cost and not profit making in any way as I believe many charities and other organisations are so over subscribed and underfunded now that they’re not able to meet the need. More about all this once my rebrand is complete!
