Handmade jewellery and hair accessories using Tsumami-zaiku, a traditional Japanese art craft.
Hello, I am Chi from Japan and I have been living in the UK for 18 years.
The name Remy is taken from the name of my beloved Schnauzer dog!
Tsumami-zaiku is a traditional Japanese craft in which small squares of
cloth are pinched and combined with tweezers to form flowers, grasses and
other shapes to create works of art.
A typical example of its craft works are womens hair ornaments, such as kanzashi (hairpin),
which are worn with kimono. However, it is also widely used as a jewellery for casual wear,
not limited to kimono nowadays.
As well as kanzashi, I also make cufflinks, lapel pins and headbands using beautiful chirimen fabrics
which I directly import from a long-established fabric store in Kyoto, Japan.
I would like many people to know about the beautiful Tsumami-zaiku made with colourful chirimen crape fabrics!
