Machine sewing is my thing, dressmaking, bags or upholstery and some patch work quilting.
I sew for those who appreciate handmade gifts, mainly all types of bags and cases large and small. It satisfies me to hand craft, say a handbag from an idea on paper to an attractive 3D item constructed from fabrics of all types, and when possible using recycled materials.
I sell on line via Folksy and attend local market stalls when feasible. I will list any events here. I only sell on line via the Folksy platform: folksy/shops/sewnupgifts but if you would like a commissioned piece please contact me here.
All my sewing is carried out in a small spare room at home, which I call SUGs. There I can be found at any hour of the day at my favourite and well used Bernina sewing machine among other machines. I could be dressmaking, bag making, or patch working and quilting, it all depends on fabrics available and the request.
Over the years, as I have been sewing since I was eleven, I have gained skills through experience, plenty of reading, experimenting and training. Of course now the internet provides a huge educational and motivating source. My latest latest courses have been dress pattern making and a leather bag making work shop.
I am also a member of several sewing groups where lots of ideas, knowledge and banter is shared and good friends made.
I hope you like my shop Sewn Up Gifts, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me here. Thank you.
