Stunning handmade contemporary framed butterflies and insects
As a child I loved butterflies and nature and on a trip to Thailand in 2016 my passion was reignited when I came across some framed butterflies in a local market. On my return home I decided to make some of my own. I sourced some butterflies, learnt how to prepare them and being a carpenter by trade made the frames. My appreciation of these beautiful insects was shared by others and my hobby grew into a business and I now sell on Etsy and at local craft fairs. Most of my frames have glass on both front and back as surprisingly the underside of many butterflies can be in complete contrast to the top and may be equally as stunning. My framed butterflies and insects make unusual, stylish gifts at affordable prices and appeal to both men and women of all ages.
My specimens are sourced from around the world and adhere to the CITES code (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). The code aims to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. Specimens are either farm bred or from sustainable sources. It may surprise you to learn that butterfly collecting actually helps the earths ecology since it allows local people to raise butterflies to support their families, giving them an incentive to maintain the rain forests and jungles.
