up and recycled furniture, accessories, gifts and cards using paint techniques, decoupage and fabrics
Im a sixties child when recycling was norm.,
to throw anything out was very bad form.
It all went wrong, as “times did a change”,
with new shopping trends and too wide a range.
Disposable habits without any thought,
“I cant believe how much Ive bought”.
Recyclings a circle and its not too late,
to turn back time and adjust our fate.
I hate waste and will use just about anything to create something new, useful and wonderful.
I use Farrow and Ball paints to create muted, earthy backdrops on discarded furniture, applying beautiful decoupage papers and napkins, with my trademark pillar box red used as an accent. Every item is unique and all are protected by a matt varnish finish, rendering them completely washable.
My tote bags, cushions and placemats are from:- remnants, a local scrap store, bed linen, table cloths and upholstery fabrics which are thoroughly cleaned with the occasional appearance of new polycottons from my favourite quilting shop in Cornwall.
For my charming greeting cards I use pre-cut cards (yes I cheat but Im working on this) and I painstakingly cut round discarded birthday and Christmas cards, magazines, packaging and even napkins which are applied onto colourful back drops. By using foam pads the cards have a depth to them which has formed my trademark. All cards sold in sleeves.
Other gifts include:-trays made from old picture frames, vases from decoupaged jam jars, memo boards, jewellery boxes and whatever takes my fancy from whats in my salvage cupboard at the time.
(Im afraid that Im still working on my photography skills, but Ive uploaded some photos to get my listing in place until I can get some proper IT help).
