Handmade gemstone and pearl beaded jewellery. Im a qualified gemmologist and pearl stringer
Handmade unique gemstone and pearl beaded jewellery with sterling silver accents.
The gemstone beads and pearls used are carefully chosen to ensure good quality, with neat drill holes, well cut and polished. Im always on the lookout for unusual shapes and colours. Poor drill holes can cut thread and hang crooked, making the piece look unprofessional.
After taking my gemmology qualification I fell in love with the colours and variety of gemstones. I learnt how to be a pearl stringer alongside working in the retail jewellery trade.
I had always had a dream to make my own jewellery.
Then in 2005 I started designing and making unique gemstone and pearl beaded necklaces, bracelets and earrings with silver accents, to sell in the lovely silver jewellery shop where I was working in East Grinstead. My business continued independently, after the demise of the jewellery shop some 6 years later.
I love being absorbed for hours designing and wherever possible hand making parts. The earring beads are hand wired in silver in different styles. Many fittings and linkages on the necklaces are hand wired. Where silk is used, the beads are individually knotted to make them secure.
For 4 years I lived on a boat and traded around the inland waterways. I had a roving trader licence and took part in organised floating markets. That was great fun and a bit different.
If you want something to match an outfit, I am happy to discuss a commission piece for you.
My handmade jewellery is available online, in some galleries in Sussex and at craft fairs.
