I design and make silver jewellery from my home studio, creating unique wearable pieces in a contemporary style.
After working in higher education and studying art, craft and design history at masters level, I perfected my metal-working skills by taking a course at South Downs College in Lewes, West Sussex followed by two years of intensive one-to-one tuition with a highly skilled craftsman with over forty years experience in the jewellery trade. With this excellent foundation I have continued to develop my learning, acquiring further skills and techniques such as casting, stone-setting and working in precious metal clay.
Most of my pieces are made using traditional silversmithing skills, including forging, wire-work, hand-piercing and texturing using acid etch and a heat process known as reticulation. This lends an organic, natural lustre to the surface of the silver. Nine carat gold accents and a range of precious and semi-precious gemstones are used to add another dimension to some of my pieces.
I draw my inspiration from the forms and details found in nature, adding my own minimalist twist, aiming to create unique, versatile and wearable pieces that will stand the test of time in terms of craftsmanship and fashion. Be it earrings, pendants, bangles or rings, I create each element from scratch, with care and thought going into the design and creation of each piece I make.
I sell my work in local galleries, artistsí open house events and craft fairs. If you are interested in having an item in a specific size or style for yourself, or as a gift for someone special, feel free to get in touch via ariansilverdesigns at gmail.
My items are hallmarked by the London Assay Office, where I have my unique Ďadcí makerís mark registered. I am also a member of The Guild of Jewellery Designers and The Society of British Jewellers.
