Katie Read - Sheffield based illustrator and mixed media artist

Katie Read is an illustrator and mixed media based in Sheffield. Her artwork intertwines the natural world with the magical, and sometimes spooky. She creates quirky and mystical characters: from melancholic mushrooms, to cats with a few more eyes than you’d expect, to a fox who napped for so long that trees grew from his back. Katie works digitally, as well as in watercolour, pen and ink She also creates risograph and polymer clay pins. Katie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from Sheffield Hallam University, and has displayed her artwork at Moonko and the Sheffield Institute of Arts. Her exhibitions have included Finfolk: a short history of mermaids in British folklore, and 21 Things I Did Instead of my Grad Project.
