Bamboo Country Clothing made in the UK
Ginger and Jardine based in Suffolk is a clothing brand offering sustainable bamboo clothing for the discerning country customer. Lynne Jardine who was born and bred in rural Suffolk set up the brand following a frustration of trying to find comfortable and ethical clothing made in the UK at a reasonable price. After 2 years of planning, sampling and testing the initial range of roll necks (often a wardrobe staple for country lovers) was launched in March 2019. The range consists of ladies tops including roll necks, T-shirts and polo shirts all made from super-soft and sustainable bamboo and designed with the country person in mind.
Bamboo offers great qualities to the wearer:
Super soft and a pleasure to wear described as like wearing an extra skin
Moisure management bamboo is over 3 times more moisture absorbent than cotton so is excellent as wicking moisure away from the body keeping your fresh and dry
Thermo-regulating bamboo clothing has millions of micro-gaps in the fibre which enables it to adjust to your temperature – warm when you are cool and cool when you are warm.
Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal bamboo clothing is naturally anti-bacterial and eliminates odour.
Breathable our jersey fabrics allow the skin to breathe keeping you feeling fresh.
Anti-static and hypoallergenic bamboo is natural and a great option for people with sensitivity to man-made fibres.
Fabrics are carefully sourced and where printed it is with our own designs. We work with small family-run businesses where techniques and skills are handed down through the generations with the majority of our clothes being made in the UK.
Bamboo is also highly sustainable as it is the fastest grown plant in the world (up to 1 metre in a 24 hour period), it requires less water than cotton and no pesticides to enable it to grow harvesting creates less soil erosion as it is cut at the stem rather than cultivated.
