Kim Jenkins - Printmaking

Kim Jenkins

I am a relief printmaker , working mainly in lino . I am influenced by Inuit Printmaking . I love its simplicity and mystery

I have been printmaking for a long time . I studied to M.A. level at Camberwell College of Art in London . I have tried lots of different printmaking techniques but always come back to lino printing . I like to carve it up and piece back together like a collage . I cut up old blocks to make into new prints. I am influenced by folk art and the immediacy of outsider art . I have travelled in Romania and Poland and have an interest in Eastern European Art . I especially like the animations from Russia and the Eastern Block from the 50s/60s and 70s.

I also have a range of hand printed greetings cards which I hand print using a foil blocking press. Hand printing allows me to do small runs and experiment with colour ways . I have done trade shows including Top Drawer, Maison et Objet and The Stationery Fair in New York .

I am happiest when in a print workshop . I dont just make lino prints but drypoint as well . I like the fact that you cant be too controlled with the process
