Having sold in excess of 100 pet portraits here and internationally, I can safely say I have completed my apprenticeship )
I take commissions for pet portraits done mostly in pastel on velour which is just perfect for soft fur texture, but take commissions in oil and acrylic too. I love to capture the eyes perfectly being the windows to their soul and the most beautiful part of any animal I see. I work from at least one clear, good quality photograph.
All pet portraits commissioned in pastel are provided mounted, backed and wrapped with acid free archival materials and completed on velour or pastel mat.
All pet portraits commissioned in Oil or Acrylic can be painted on canvas or canvas board.
When not working on commissioned pet portraits I paint wildlife, local landscapes and experiment with abstract art using pastel, acrylic and oil.
I won an award for best pastel in an exhibition judged by Ruth Mitchell for a painting simply titled lion. I also won an award for Sunset at Colwick Park an oil painting judged by the public
