Machine embroidered cushions, bags, quilts, pictures and table runners

I have always loved sewing, purely as a hobby and used to make a lot of cross stitched pictures to celebrate special occasions such as the birth of my children. A good friend introduced me to machine embroidery back in the early 2000s and I was hooked immediately. I loved being able to create beautiful detailed embroidery and to be honest, it took a fraction of the time than hand stitching (which I still do for relaxation).
I started by making gifts and cards for family and friends and it was very well received. I began to receive orders from my recipients and so I thought that I had better put things on an official footing, and in 2004, Machine Embroidery by Marie was born. At first I was rather obsessed, and I would sew on anything that I could and my husband used to joke that if anything or anyone sat still for long enough, they would be embellished by me! After a short while of practicing, I began to learn what I love to make and embroider.
Now, I use machine embroidery to create unique items such as quilts, cushions, bags and table runners. I use cotton and wadding to make one of a kind gifts. I do not make bulk items such as logos or work wear, as I prefer to make items that will last and be kept as a special keepsake.
I make things in different ways, so some of my cot quilts are printed panels which I make up and quilt using my machine. I only have one of each panel so the quilts truly are one-offs. I also make embroidered panel quilts which offer a special finish to something that will last. They are all washable on a cool setting.
My table runners are a lovely centrepiece for any setting. Its amazing how different fabrics can give a different look to a piece. The runners are also washable.
The bags I make offer practicality and function with style.
I also make cushions with either feather or polyester filling. I love making cushions to celebrate special occasions too and I take orders for these.
I also make phone purses and other small items that are ideal as unusual gift ideas.
I love making quirky things and am always looking for new designs to help me create special items, so you will have to keep looking to see what I will be making next...
Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction and I hope that you will find something that you like among my creations.
