I am an award-winning, self-published author of illustrated storybooks for children, with character soft toys.
My five story books are suitable for children aged from birth to 8 years old. Each book has its own character soft toy, which is available to purchase separately.
I received the 2018 Award for Best Children’s Storybook Author of the Year from the UK-based publisher, AI Global Media and won it again in 2019. I have sold almost 15,000 books.
Each of my five books is 32 pages long and produced to a very high quality, with beautiful, glossy, wipe-clean covers (ideal after sticky fingers have been involved!) and robust, child-proof bindings. The illustrations are a dream: bold and colourful with lots of childlike humour. I write in rhyming couplets, making the stories memorable for little ones, and a joy to read.
“Alfie’s Story” is a touching true tale of a stray cat that appeared in my garden, whom I eventually adopted. “Fearless Flynn” is about a self-confident mouse who dares to be different from other mice! “Arkwright the Duck” was commissioned by the Arkwright Society at Cromford Mills, a World Heritage site in Derbyshire, to give their duck a background story. My fourth title is “Milly, Molly and Maisy, a Tale of Three Kittens”, another true story about three sisters I adopted from a local animal welfare sanctuary. My latest book, Owl to the Rescue, was published in 2019. It is a woodland adventure and includes a Find the animal quiz page.
Since I published my first title in 2014, the marketing of my books has been my responsibility. I have now sold almost 15,000 copies, mainly through my website, independent bookshops, gift shops and garden centres, and also at local craft fairs. Until 2017, my books were available only within my home county of Derbyshire. But during the last few years, I have attended national and regional fairs all over the country, such as Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace and Ripley Castle Christmas Fair, where my books have proved to be just as popular. In 2019, I was delighted to become an approved supplier to the National Trust.
