Jane Laya Textiles

I love the feel of hand dyed textiles, enjoying the dying process particularly with indigo. Cloth memorises the path of dye.

Customers can choose from a variety of scarves which are hand dyed using the Japanese Shibori technique which uses the fabric as its own resist by being either clamped or stitched and tied very tightly. This is a two hundred year old skill which is up and coming and developing in the UK. Indigo produces beautiful effects and the scarves glow due to the oxidation process when being made.
Hand sewn Hanging Textiles are both displayed and for sale and made often with locally woven silk from the Sudbury Mills. These are landscapes or seascapes and very influenced by local scenery you be be able to guess where some of them were inspired by.
In addition the stall has window transparencies and table linen to choose from, and something for everyone badges and cards for sale.
Do come and see the unique textiles on offer.
