Personalised, unique literature-inspired prints and cards
Hello. My name is James Voce from TheJuicingRoom. I work from a small studio based in Matlock in the Derbyshire Dales. My prints and greeting cards focus on literature-inspired texts. I cut up texts to make unique prints. Typically these are the last pages torn from classic novels from which I cut out letters - never taking whole words - and use them in the order they were found on the page to create the opening line of the novel. Sometimes I create my own poems, or quotes linked to the books.
To make things a little trickier I cut out large sections in order to create distinctive shapes and images - such as Franz Kafkas stag beetle or the Derbyshire map for Pride and Prejudice or the hare for Alice in Wonderland. I love the challenge of still being able to find the right letters in the right order - - always the same order - - whilst also creating a stunning image.
I also personalise prints. You can replace the page header (name of the book) with a name of your choice as well as replacing the page number with a year of birth, or significant age. All personalised prints have a unique page tear. These prints are true one-offs and make ACE gifts.
I have a range of A5 greeting cards featuring the images from my prints.
If you would like a customised, commissioned piece then I can do that as well. Just contact me to discuss. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for stopping by.
James
