Pins and Pegs
Pins and Pegs is the craft section of Sparkies of Kington.

We are a small business situated in the market town of Kington and produce Pin weaving and Peg Looms as well as high quality, unique hand spun, hand woven, hand dyed, hand knitted and hand crocheted jumpers, cardigans, blankets, rugs, shawls, stoles, hats, scarves, mittens and more.

All our equipment and products are made to the highest standard possible.

We offer 2 types of Pin Looms:
1. Continuous thread weaving boards are for on the bias weaving and come in 5 in 1, 8 in 1 and 12 in 1 which come as a board with a combination of squares, rectangles and triangles of different sizes. You can make 5 different shapes with the 5 in 1, 8 shapes with the 8 in 1 and 12 shapes with the 12 in 1. Each board comes as a kit with the board, an instruction sheet and a crochet hook of an appropriate size. The 5 in 1 board is drilled out in a 7mm guage, and the 8 and 12 in one are drilled out on a 5mm guage.

2. Ravel and Weave board. This board is intended for orthoganal weaving and produces three sizes of squares, and the holes are drilled with 5mm spacing in the same style as the vintage loomette. The Ravel and weave board is also supplied as a kit with the board, instructions and a plastic sewing needle.

All of our boards are drilled with 2mm holes 15mm deep into 18mm high grade plywood. The boards are varnished and backed with felt.

Most of our work is in pure wool, but to cater for those customers who cannot tolerate wool, we offer a limited number of items in commercially purchased acrylic.

We attend occasional local craft fairs and are happy to post items to customers that are not able to attend these. You are welcome to visit our premises by prior arrangement (Never on a Sunday).

One-to-one/two tuition is possible IF BOOKED IN ADVANCE for:
Pin Weaving
Wool Preparation (Carding or Combing),
Spinning,
Knitting, Crochet (all kinds),
Weaving
and Dying (Chemical Dyes only).

We are putting together a range of kits with natural and dyed yarns for knitting, crochet and weaving, which should be available soon and make ideal Birthday and Christmas presents.

In addition to our craft work, as Sparkies of Kington, we do Desk Top Publishing/Printing (mainly Community Magazines) and we are happy to quote for price lists, brochures, patterns etc. We print all our own packaging and display signage and would be able to offer this service to others if required.
